The great American abolitionist, orator, and leader Frederick Douglass, who will soon be memorialized here in Brockton with a statue honoring his freedom fighting work and his soaring oratory at Brockton’s own liberty tree, famously noted that, “if there is no struggle, there is no progress.” The last year has been a struggle in many ways, but we are making historic progress on many fronts nonethel ess. ![]() I thank this hero and all the brave men & wom en who have served or are currently serving our Nation. He lives in Ward 3 and is watching us tonight. Has been offering emotional support and counseling to the students and the staff and we will continue to do so.
